NYAB, a Nordic construction company, has been awarded a contract valued at Skr132m ($12m) by Sweden’s Trosa municipality to build a significant water infrastructure project.

The contract involves constructing a transfer pipeline between Vagnhärad and Hölö, with work commencing in early 2025 and completion anticipated by mid-2026.

The project will see NYAB construct a 'complete' facility for a pressure sewage transfer pipeline, comprising four new pump stations.

A 14km-long pipeline will be constructed in the Himmerfjärdsverket in Grödinge, replacing the two local treatment plants currently operated by the municipality.

This construction is designed to support Trosa's population growth projections until 2060, marking the municipality's 'largest' investment in water and sewage to date.

NYAB business area manager of Industry and Energy Daniel Johansson said: "We are proud that NYAB is entrusted with developing Trosa's infrastructure. The transfer pipeline will mostly be laid using directional drilling, which means less impact on the landscape than traditional digging and also lower climate impact. Trosa municipality is a new customer for us, and we look forward to cooperating with them."

Recently, NYAB Infrastruktur, part of the NYAB Group, secured a road maintenance contract from the Swedish Transport Administration for the Boden area in Norrbotten County.
