NV5 to design pedestrian safety improvements along Lexington Avenue

NV5 has offered its services to the NYCDDC since the department was founded in 1996.

The New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) has awarded civil engineering company NV5 Global a contract to design pedestrian safety improvements along Lexington Avenue in New York, US.

The estimated value of the contract is $7m.

NV5 chair and CEO Dickerson Wright said: “We are pleased to support sustainable infrastructure through pedestrian safety and accessibility for the residents and visitors of New York City.

“NV5 has a long history of delivering award-winning projects to the NYCDDC, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the department.”

The scope of this project comprises engineering design, project management, and inspection services for the duration of three years across Lexington Avenue from 41st to 49th Street and 49th Street from Lexington Avenue to Third Avenue.

The upgrades include the installation of traffic calming measures, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant walking paths, accessible pedestrian signals and drainage enhancements, and subsurface utility infrastructure improvements to support the recent Midtown rezoning. 

NV5 has offered professional design and resident engineering inspection services to the NYCDDC since the department’s founding in 1996.

NV5 New York Operations director and vice-president Joseph Menzer said: “We are proud and eager to support the New York City Department of Design and Construction in its efforts to improve safety and provide accessibility for all.”

The Chinese government holds nuclear power to be a key instrument in achieving clean energy. During their 13th Five-Year Plan period from 2016 to 2020, China built 20 new nuclear power plants with a total capacity of 23.4 GW. In the current 14th Five Year Plan period the government has set targets to achieve 70GW of nuclear power capacity by 2025. The government has no plans to phase out or phase down nuclear power plants and there are over 17 nuclear power projects under construction.
