The NRP Group, in partnership with New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) and Soldier On, has started construction on the Selkirk Reserve housing community in New York, US.

The 72-unit housing community, also known as Hudson on Nine and classed as 'affordable', is situated on a 15.67-acre site in Bethlehem.

It marks NRP's second affordable housing venture in the region.

The community will feature nine two-storey buildings with 24 one-bedroom units ranging from 702ft² to 784ft², 24 two-bedroom units ranging from 910ft² to 1,003ft², and 24 three-bedroom units ranging from 1,127ft² to 1,207ft².

The site will include a clubhouse with a community room, conference room, amenity centre, and kitchen, among other features.

Outdoor amenities will consist of a playground and raised garden beds.

The community is being constructed under a 9% tax credit programme.

NRP will retain sole ownership and management of the property post-completion, which will include on-site staff.

New York State Homes and Community Renewal commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas said: “Selkirk Reserve will boost the region’s housing supply with 72 energy-efficient homes in the town of Bethlehem, including 12 with supportive services for veterans.

“With access to high-performing schools and excellent amenities, future residents will benefit from the many opportunities that a good-quality home can provide. Congratulations to the NRP Group, Soldier On, and all who have contributed to reaching this milestone.”

Located close to Downtown Albany, the community will provide workforce housing for households earning between 30% to 60% of the area median income (AMI).

The housing community will also offer support services to 12 veterans experiencing homelessness, in partnership with Soldier On, funded by The Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative.

In addition, the project has garnered support from local organisations such as Housing for All and Neighbours for Affordable Housing.

Last month, the NRP Group began construction on a multifamily community, The Riley, in Fort Myers, Florida, US.
