Norconsult has revealed that one of its subsidiaries has won the design contract for the Geneva Airport expansion project in Switzerland.

The company expects to generate between Nkr120m-Nkr150m ($11.15m-$13.94m) from the design contract for the project.

Construction of the first phase is scheduled to be finished in 2032.

The estimated budget for expanding the terminal at Geneva Airport is SFr600m.

Norconsult Norway head office EVP Bård Hernes said: “The Geneva Airport expansion project showcases our architects´ expertise as an internationally recognised airport designer.

"We are very proud to be awarded this project and look forward to collaborating with both Geneva Airport and to be part of a very competent team carrying out this work.”

Earlier this month, the airport awarded the design-build contract for the CAP2030 project to Losinger-Marazzi-Bouygues, a construction company.

The CAP2030 project includes the renovation or reconstruction of the original main terminal, T1, constructed in 1968. It involves constructing a new 45,000m² terminal in the area in front of the main entrance to T1.

The decision is yet to be taken on whether the existing terminal will be rebuilt or renovated.

Construction is expected to start in 2026, including the construction of a bus-train-car-bike-aeroplane interchange.

Currently, Norconsult has approximately 6,000 employees across more than 130 offices, with its advisors assisting with 30,000 assignments for both private and public clients.

In November, the Nordic Office of Architecture, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norconsult, announced its selection as the lead consultant and architect for a project in Denmark.
