Black Buffalo 3D (BB3D) and AM Unique-by Namthaja have formed a partnership to execute concrete construction projects using advanced 3D printing technology in the Middle East.
This collaboration aims to integrate 3D printing into residential, commercial, and industrial construction, potentially revolutionising traditional building methods in the region.
BB3D claims to be the first company to meet the ICC-Evaluation Service AC509 criteria for 3D-printed structural concrete walls. This certification is recognised in more than 55 countries, with many others modelling their building codes on this standard.
The company's NEXCON printer and proprietary materials have also led the way in printing owner-occupied homes with the printed shell as the load-bearing element, eliminating the need for additional reinforcement.
AM Unique, operating under Namthaja, is a Saudi enterprise specialising in custom 3D printing solutions.
Under this collaboration, BB3D will integrate its NEXCON concrete 3D printers into AM Unique's existing fleet. In turn, AM Unique will apply its expertise in design and 3D printing to create residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
The plan is to localise BB3D's proprietary materials in the region. In collaboration with AM Unique and Saudi Readymix, the partners will adapt their technology and construction methods to suit regional needs.
Large-scale building and construction projects stand to benefit from this partnership, with structural 3D printing reportedly offering a safer, more sustainable, and efficient alternative to conventional construction practices.
AM Unique CEO Yousef Alsughayir said: "Black Buffalo 3D was introduced through a trusted partner. We have dedicated significant efforts to evaluate and identify key players in 3D construction to support the scaling of this technology within our country. Black Buffalo 3D's approach to testing and promoting repeatable processes for building made them one of our top choices.
"Our team looks forward to using our design expertise to print unique structures and elements, and working closely alongside Black Buffalo 3D to change the landscape of construction in Saudi Arabia."
