Bowman Consulting Group has been awarded a contract by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) in the US to provide on-call preliminary engineering (PE) services.

The contract, valued at up to $1.5m, will span two years and marks the eighth consecutive PE award the company has received from NDOT.

The services included in the contract encompass roadway and bridge design, land surveys, stormwater management, right-of-way planning, environmental compliance, and public involvement initiatives.

Bowman's involvement is expected to bolster various projects, including bridge replacements, state recreation roads, safety enhancements, transportation alternatives, and emergency relief efforts.

Additional responsibilities within the contract extend to erosion control, Americans with Disabilities Act design and compliance, utility coordination, and traffic control design.

These tasks are aimed at propelling Nebraska's infrastructure objectives forward, with a focus on improving safety, efficiency, and connectivity for the state's communities.

Bowman chair and CEO Gary Bowman said: “This continued partnership underscores NDOT’s confidence in Bowman’s extensive transportation engineering capabilities and technical expertise.

“We are privileged to have the opportunity to play a role in shaping Nebraska’s vision for a modern, connected and resilient transportation network. The NDOT relationship and related organic revenue growth are the direct result of our Speece Lewis acquisition in early 2024 and are evidence of the long-term effectiveness of our M&A [merger and acquisition] programme.”

Last month, Bowman Consulting Group was selected for a multiyear contract to deliver on-call construction management services across the Illinois Tollway’s 294-mile network.

Prior to this, in October 2024, the company secured contracts from the Virginia Department of Transportation to provide engineering services for several significant transportation infrastructure projects throughout the US state.
