Nordic construction company NCC has announced its plans to partner with Region Gävleborg to renovate and expand Gävle Hospital’s entry building, Hus 60, in Sweden.

The estimated value of this turnkey contract, which is being delivered in partnering form, is Skr430m.

The hospitals in both Hudiksvall and Gävle (under the umbrella term 'Framtidsbygget') will be upgraded to offer advanced health and medical services in the future.

The Hus 60 project will be the first under the scope of Framtidsbygget in Gävle.

Region Gävleborg Gästrikland construction project manager John Dahlgren said: “I’m delighted that we can now start the construction work. This is a crucial investment in modern premises that will enable a good work environment for our employees as well as a safe and secure environment for our patients.”

The scope of NCC’s work includes the addition of six storeys to the existing building and a rooftop helipad, which will enhance transportation to and from the hospital.

Hus 60 will be built to achieve the Miljöbyggnad Silver sustainability rating.

NCC Building Sweden head Henrik Landelius said: “At NCC, there are many specialists in hospital construction, and we have solid collective experience from projects similar to our assignment at Gävle Hospital.

"Since we are working in partnership, we can contribute our competence right from the start and help to ensure that Gävle Hospital can meet future care needs.”

Construction is set to be completed in mid-2026.

NCC will record this order in its Sweden Building business segment in the fourth quarter of this year.

Earlier this month, the company won a contract to construct a new treatment plant in Österåker.
