NCC has secured a turnkey contract to modernise 210 apartments in the Mindeparken residential area of Herning, Denmark.
Awarded by municipal company FællesBo, the contract is valued at approximately Skr350m ($32.22m).
The refurbishment project will involve an overhaul of six residential blocks that were originally constructed in 1956.
FællesBo CEO Peter Bøgebjerg Mortensen said: “The refurbishment of Mindeparken is part of a larger plan according to which FællesBo will refurbish nearly 2,000 of our residential units over the next few years.
“We are pleased and proud that we can carry out these major refurbishment projects, thereby providing many families with high-quality and attractive rental apartments - today and tomorrow.”
NCC's responsibilities include replacing all technical installations to enhance indoor climates and tackling problems related to dampness and cold.
It also involves renovating bathrooms, kitchens, and updating surface finishes and flooring.
A third of the units will undergo remodelling to improve accessibility.
Furthermore, NCC will revitalise the common outdoor areas within the neighbourhood.
NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “Our excellent collaboration with FællesBo is now being expanded to include another project here in Herning. We are also cooperating on a project in the Porshøj area, where we are currently refurbishing 441 apartments.
“Good planning and project management are key to these two refurbishment projects, together with a team that has extensive experience of refurbishing public housing."
Work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter (Q3) of this year and is expected to reach completion by the end of 2027.
The contract will be registered under the NCC Building Nordics business area in Q2 2024.
This award comes after NCC received a turnkey contract earlier this month to expand the Taatila elementary school in Lieto, Finland.
The agreement, signed with the City of Lieto, is valued at approximately Skr195m.
