NCC has been contracted to commence the first phase of a refurbishment plan for the Taastrupgaard district, located east of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The project, valued at approximately Skr400m ($38.54m), aims to modernise and optimise energy usage in an area currently designated as vulnerable by the Danish government.
The transformation for Taastrupgaard has two more phases planned.
The latest refurbishment, set to begin this month, will involve the renovation of 184 rental apartments managed by KAB and AKB Taastrup.
KAB CEO Jens Elmelund said: “We look forward to collaborating with NCC on the ambitious transformation of Taastrupgaard, which will bring the buildings up to a modern standard and make the area an attractive part of Høje-Taastrup’s new cultural district.
“For the residents of the area, this agreement with NCC is a crucial step toward realising their desire for modern housing, with a high standard of living and a significantly lower carbon footprint.”
The apartments will undergo various upgrades, including new facades, windows, doors, balconies, kitchens, and floors. Additionally, the outdoor spaces will be completely revitalised.
NCC's assignment extends to remodelling certain apartments to improve accessibility and to convert some units into youth accommodation.
NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “The major refurbishment and remodelling of Taastrupgaard will turn the residential units and their surroundings into a modern and attractive residential district.
“We have an experienced, close-knit work team on site that recently completed a major refurbishment project in Herlev. These experiences will be valuable in this assignment.”
Work is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, with the order value to be registered under the NCC Building Nordics business area in the third quarter of 2024.
Last month, NCC's subsidiary Nybergs Entreprenad secured a contract to build a swim centre in Visby, Sweden.
The new facility will feature a 25m lap pool, a multifunctional pool, a family pool, and a deep diving pool.
