Morgan Sindall Construction has been selected by the UK Department of Education to construct three schools in North West England's Greater Manchester region.

The three schools are Star Radcliffe Academy in Bury, Dixons Newall Green Academy in Wythenshawe, and Pear Tree Academy in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport.

Operated by Star Academies, Star Radcliffe Academy is planned to be a five-form entry, 750-place secondary school for 11 to 16-year-old students.

In its initial year of opening, the school will have the capacity to provide admission to up to 150 pupils who are in the seventh year of compulsory education (Year 7).

The school, which is expected to open in September next year, received planning permission earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Pear Tree Academy, which is operated by the Prospere Learning Trust, will have expertise in serving students aged between 11 and 18 years with severe learning difficulties and other similar needs.

Also expected to open in September 2024, the school will have an intake capacity of 133 students.

Operated by Dixons Academies Trust, the school in the Wythenshawe district opened in September this year and currently offers a temporary intake capacity of 140 Year 7 pupils.

After the completion of construction work by Morgan, this secondary free school will cater to up to 750 students aged between 11 and 16 years.

Apart from these three projects, Morgan is also working on the refurbishment of Newhouse Academy in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

The company is constructing a two-storey, 16,100m² building and other related plant and landscaping works at the site.

Morgan said it will deploy its 'Intelligent Solutions' approach to support these projects.

This approach combines digital and platform design with modern construction techniques and low-carbon tools, the company added.

Morgan North West managing director Simon Arnott said: “Working on so many education projects across the region simultaneously presents us with a unique opportunity to make a really significant contribution to the region’s educational offer and local economy - an opportunity we’re determined to deliver on.”

Suffolk County Council recently appointed Morgan's Eastern Counties business and Concertus to build a primary school and preschool in Lakenheath, UK.
