Morgan Sindall Construction has announced the successful transformation of the former Leeds Building Society headquarters in England, UK.
The conversion project was undertaken on behalf of the country's Department of Education (DfE). The former Leeds Building Society headquarters is now a specialist mathematics school.
The new Leeds Mathematics School (LMaS) offers a post-16 A-level curriculum focused on mathematics and mathematical sciences.
Morgan designed classrooms, labs, a double-height lecture theatre, dining and social amenities, a fitness complex, and offices for the school.
Morgan project manager Dan Marsh said: “It’s been a privilege for our team to transform this significant Leeds building into a state-of-the-art educational facility that will allow young people across Leeds to fulfil their potential. We hope that students and staff alike will take full advantage of these brilliant new facilities.”
The GORSE Academies Trust and the University of Leeds collaborated on this LMaS project.
The campus is now open to approximately 240 students.
Morgan provided site visits to local education providers such as primary and secondary schools, Leeds College of Building, and Leeds Beckett University during the construction phase.
DfE project manager Peter Roberts said: “The completion concludes over three years of hard work in the planning and delivery of this project.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to have worked with the GORSE Academies Trust and Morgan Sindall on the provision of such a high-quality teaching space in Leeds city centre.”
