Manutenzioni Generali Autostrade (MGA), a subsidiary of Reway Group, has secured a contract for the engineering and construction of a new tunnel in Italy.
The contract, worth approximately €62.2m ($68.11m), has been awarded by ANAS following a European tender.
MGA will be responsible for the construction of a 1.3km tunnel along the Amatrice - Montereale - L'Aquila ridge road, part of SS 260 Picente.
The tunnel will connect Cermone with S. Giusta.
The engineering phase of the tunnel is set to commence this month, with the operational phase expected to begin by August 2024.
This project will employ roughly 70 specialised workers and is anticipated to take two and a half years to complete.
Reway Group chair and CEO Paolo Luccini said: “This new contract is particularly significant as it marks Reway Group's entry into the field of new infrastructure construction.
“Today opens a new important phase in our growth journey, and we are ready to seize new opportunities in this market as well.”
Reway specialises in road and motorway infrastructure rehabilitation and maintenance.
The project falls under the responsibility of the 1st Section Directorate in Genoa and the 2nd Section Directorate in Milan.
