Lincoln Avenue Communities has selected McShane Construction Company to construct a new affordable housing development, Bishops Woods, in Brookfield, Wisconsin, US. 

Knothe & Bruce Architects has been appointed as architect of record for this initiative. 

The project, aimed at providing housing options for those earning 40% to 80% of the area median income (AMI), will feature 203 units, ranging from one to three-bedroom plans. 

McShane Wisconsin Market director Alison Gorham said: “We’re proud to partner with Lincoln Avenue Communities on another affordable housing community. 

“Bishops Woods is a unique development that offers both traditional apartments and live/work units that will allow residents to have a business in their home.” 

The 3.7-acre development at 350 Bishops Way will consist of a podium-style building with four storeys of wood framing over a two-storey underground parking garage.  

The exterior design will include Hardie lap and panel siding with brick veneer. 

The units’ interiors will feature vinyl plank flooring, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops in both kitchens and bathrooms. Certain units will also have balconies. 

Eight live/work units with separate exterior entrances will be available for residents seeking an office suite or studio space. 

Bishops Woods will offer various tenant amenities, including a clubroom, fitness centre, outdoor grill area, and playground.  

The development is designed to meet Wisconsin Green Built Home Standards and will incorporate a 200kW AC solar array on the rooftop, as well as electric heat pump systems. 

Construction is expected to be completed in December 2025.
