McLaren Construction has secured a contract for the development of Centurion Park, an industrial and logistics hub in Colchester, Essex, UK.

The £41m ($52.51m) contract has been commissioned by Tungsten Properties, a UK-based industrial and warehouse developer.

Tungsten managing director Jeff Penman said: “While we have developments all over the UK, this is our second project in Essex, the first of which was in Witham which was successfully built and let.

“This is a strong market with growing businesses needing fast delivery of new, high-spec industrial and logistics units. We selected McLaren because of their experience and efficient approach to construction.”

The development will be situated on a 29-acre site, directly adjacent to the A120 road in Essex, providing access to the M25 in under an hour via the A12.

It is set to include 11 units designated for light industrial, general industrial, and storage and distribution purposes.

These units will vary in size from 11,000ft² to 70,500ft², alongside exclusive office space.

The project will comprise ten buildings, collectively offering approximately 357,500ft² of space.

These buildings are being designed to be net-zero carbon in construction and will feature LED lighting in offices, electric vehicle charging points, and solar panels.

Construction will also involve infrastructure investment, including the creation of a new roundabout and access road connecting to the A120.

The project will require the installation of power, gas, and water, all within a fixed programme timeline.

It is expected to be completed in October this year.

Last month, McLaren Construction was selected by Publica Properties Establishment to transform the former House of Fraser department store in London, UK, into a mixed-use development.
