McAleer & Rushe has been selected by developer Dominus Real Estate for a student accommodation scheme in London, UK.

The latest scheme, a part of a new mixed-use development located at the 65 Crutched Friars site, carries a construction contract value of more than £100m ($127.39m).

The new purpose-built student accommodation will provide more than 700 student homes within a 21-storey building.

Designed by Danish architectural company 3XN, the student residences will offer a range of living options, from premium studios to affordable cluster bedrooms.

It will also include green spaces accessible to the public, including a new pocket park and a public roof terrace.

It will offer private dining rooms, wellness zones, private study areas, and entertainment spaces, among other features.

McAleer & Rushe senior director Mark Diamond said: “We’re thrilled to be delivering this prominent mixed-use scheme in the City of London as a construction partner with Dominus.

“Crutched Friars is a prime example of our early engagement approach in action and with our experienced teams behind us, we are looking forward to working on this landmark visionary scheme with all stakeholders involved.”

The scheme is targeting a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM) Outstanding rating.

Demolition works have already begun, with the major transformation phase of the former office block scheduled to start in early 2024. The overarching Crutched Friars development is expected to be completed in mid-2027 to accommodate the 2027-28 student intake.

Last August, McAleer & Rushe began work on the £138m Southbank Place Building 5 development in London.
