Sisk has commenced the main construction phase for two residential developments, Jersey Wharf and Eliza Yard, as part of the next stage of Ancoats’ regeneration project in Manchester, England, UK.

The developments, under the umbrella of Manchester Life, are anticipated to open in mid-2026.

Sisk UK North managing director Alan Rodger said: “We are thrilled that Manchester Life has chosen Sisk as the main contractor for the Jersey Wharf and Eliza Yard developments.

“Our partnership, built on trust and collaboration, has enabled us to transform Ancoats while meeting Manchester’s housing needs.”

Jersey Wharf is set to revitalise a formerly unused space on Jersey Street, adjacent to the Rochdale Canal, by offering 190 rental homes, including one-, two-, and three-bedroom options.

Located on the corner of Jersey Street and Poland Street, Eliza Yard will provide 126 homes for sale, featuring the same mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.

Both Jersey Wharf and Eliza Yard will have concierge services, outdoor gardens, and secure cycle parking facilities.

By using the Ancoats Mobility Hub for vehicle parking, the developments have been able to allocate approximately 23,000ft² for new ground-floor commercial spaces.

Manchester Life is said to have played a crucial role in the transformation of Ancoats and New Islington since 2014, adhering to the local council's Neighbourhood Development Framework.

Sisk has already completed three schemes in the initial phase of this regeneration project.

The project team is composed of Mace, serving as the project manager; T&T, overseeing cost management; Buttress, PRP, and Arcadis as the architectural companies; Curtins as the civil and structural engineer; and Buro Happold as the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer.

In May this year, Sisk was named the preferred bidder for the fit-out of Moderna's new drug substance and manufacturing facility in Oxfordshire, UK.
