Multinational conglomerate Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Buildings & Factories Business has won construction orders in both India and Bangladesh.
In India, the company has received a contract from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association to build a cricket stadium in Varanasi, on a design-and-build, turnkey basis.
The stadium is expected to have a seating capacity of 30,000 people.
The scope of this project work comprises an International Cricket Council-compliant main ground, VIP lounges, corporate boxes, a display scoreboard, office spaces, broadcasting facilities, flood lights, press conference areas, kitchen and dining sections, and a practice ground.
Construction will take place on a land area of approximately 31 acres.
Furthermore, the work covers finishes, allied mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services, and exterior development within the site grounds.
Under the second contract, received from the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, L&T will build four high-tech IT parks in Bangladesh. EXIM Bank is funding this project.
The project encompasses the construction of seven-storey structural steel buildings with a built-up area of 1.2 million square feet at eight locations, as well as associated civil, facade, and electromechanical works alongside an achieved LEED Gold certification.
The project’s scope also encompasses building management and installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
The project will take place in the Bangladeshi districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Cumilla, and Sylhet.
