Construction company GRAHAM has been selected as the preferred bidder for the Lord's Cricket Ground redevelopment project in London, UK.

The selection was announced by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

The project is set to enhance the spectator experience, increase capacity, and modernise facilities while preserving the venue's heritage.

It aligns with MCC's vision to improve architectural standards and maximise revenue at the site, with a positive impact on the St John’s Wood streetscape.

This redevelopment will involve the repurposing of the Tavern Stand, retaining its features, and the demolition and reconstruction of the Allen Stand.

The new design will integrate fully accessible amenities for ground members and the public.

It will add at least 1,100 additional seats, and construct a new pitch-facing hospitality restaurant and associated suites.

MCC estates director Robert Ebdon said: “The redevelopment of the Tavern and Allen stands will complete our stand development programme, in which we have modernised facilities at Lord’s to continue to ensure the ground remains a world-class venue for cricket.

“The stands will also strengthen the club’s already-impressive sustainability credentials, and we are looking forward to the construction phase and working closely with GRAHAM.”

Lord’s Cricket Ground will remain fully operational throughout the redevelopment, ensuring minimal disruption and continued spectator access during the 2025 and 2026 cricketing seasons.

GRAHAM will collaborate with Gardiner & Theobald, Wilkinson Eyre Architects, and Arcadis to deliver this project.

Construction work is scheduled to commence on 30 September 2024, with completion expected by the end of May 2027.
