Larsen & Toubro has been granted the letter of acceptance (LoA) to design and build Corridor-4 or the 'Kanaka' line of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail project (BSRP) in India, reported PTI.
The contract, valued at Rs10.40bn ($0.12m), encompasses the associated works between Heelalige and Rajanukunte on Corridor-4.
The contract includes the construction of a double-decker alignment, spanning 1.2km, which will serve both Corridor-1 and Corridor-4 near Yelahanka.
It also involves building a 500m BSRP elevated viaduct beneath the existing Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation viaduct near Benniganahalli.
The project is set to commence construction shortly, with a completion timeline of 30 months.
Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company said: “Larsen and Toubro has been issued the letter of acceptance today for the design and construction of elevated viaduct of length 8.960km and at-grade of length 37.920km (excluding station buildings), including associated works between Heelalige and Rajanukunte, on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode, in Corridor-4 or 'Kanaka' line of Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP).
The tender process for Corridor-1 and Corridor-3 is anticipated to begin shortly.
The company noted that South Western Railways is nearing the final stages of transferring 115.5 acres of railway land to Corridor-4.
