Webuild Group’s American subsidiary Lane has secured a $102m contract for the design and partial rebuilding of the intersection between Interstate 4 (I-4) and Apopka-Vineland Road in Orange County, Florida, US.

The project intends to improve traffic flow and boost driver safety across the region.

The interchange serves more than 150,000 vehicles daily and is a significant entry point to Walt Disney World, as well as various hotels, resorts, and nearby shopping outlets.

The Florida Department of Transportation commissioned the contract, which involves realigning the westbound I-4 entrance ramp from southbound Apopka-Vineland Road, constructing a new loop ramp from the road northbound to westbound I-4, extending the westbound I-4 exit ramp to Apopka-Vineland Road, and road resurfacing, among other additional works.

Lane will employ recycled asphalt pavement, concrete, and steel, demonstrating the group’s dedication to making the building process as environmentally friendly as possible.

Following the design phase's completion, construction is expected to start next year.

Lane has an important presence in Florida. In April, the company and a joint venture partner were named the chosen team for a project to upgrade Tampa’s Westshore Interchange.

Earlier this week, Webuild Group’s Swiss subsidiary CSC Costruzioni and its consortium partners secured a €157m motorway maintenance contract in Ticino, Switzerland.

The contract also includes reconstructing and modernising 27 buildings, underpasses, bridges, and other related civil works.
