Kier has secured a contract with London South East Colleges (LSEC) to transform its Greenwich campus in England, UK.

The £47m ($60.93m) project, awarded through the Procure Partnerships Framework, involves demolishing existing structures to make way for an educational facility at the site.

It is a collaborative effort between developer Kier, housing association L&Q, and LSEC.

LSEC group principal and CEO Sam Parrett CBE said: “Together with our partners Kier and L&Q - this is a unique example of a highly effective local partnership, working together to meet the diverse needs of the community.

“It will provide future generations with the skills and opportunities they need to secure great careers, meeting the evolving needs of employers across the region.”

Spanning 5,654m² across five storeys, the new college will be tailored to support learning with classrooms, well-being spaces, and specialised areas such as a Mac studio, training kitchen, and more.

The college is aiming for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREAAM) Outstanding certification.

Its features will include rooftop air-source heat pumps, an ambient loop heating and cooling system, and photovoltaic panels integrated with a solar green roofing system.

Moreover, the redevelopment initiative includes the construction of 294 homes, half of which will be designated as affordable housing.

During the construction phase, the campus will remain fully operational.

The project is backed by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, the Greater London Authority, and governmental department the Department for Education.

In April this year, Kier was selected by the UK’s government Property Agency to spearhead the design and development of the Darlington Economic Campus hub.
