JPMorgan Chase has joined New York officials to celebrate the topping-off ceremony of its new global headquarters in the US state.

Banker Steel and NYC Constructors (NYCC), subsidiaries of American construction engineering company DBM Global, have completed the placement of the last piece of major structural steel atop 270 Park Avenue in New York City (NYC).

The event also comprised the completion of the steel framework of the 60-storey building.

DBM CEO James Rustin Roach said: “Banker Steel continues to successfully complete some of the largest and most complex structures in New York and along the Eastern Seaboard.

“Banker Steel and NYCC continue to add substantial value to the DBM Global family of companies across the United States.”

Banker Steel manufactured while NYCC installed 93,600 tons of structural steel for 270 Park Avenue.

The 1,388ft-tall building is said to be the largest of its kind in the city and will offer 2.5 million square feet of workspace for up to 14,000 staff.

Banker Steel president Chet McPhatter added: “It took years of intense planning and execution to fabricate and erect one of the most iconic structures in the history of NYC.”

The project's team comprises developer Tishman Speyer, architect Foster+Partners, structural engineer Severud Associates Consulting Engineers, and construction manager AECOM Tishman.

The structure incorporates sustainable elements such as an all-electric skyscraper powered entirely by renewable energy, net-zero operating emissions, efficient water usage and storage, and high-performance glass.
