JPG has been contracted to provide all civil and structural engineering services for the upcoming Dakota Hotels development near Manchester Airport, England, UK.

Dakota Hotels has put forward a planning application for a 154-bedroom hotel within the 60-acre MIX Manchester development.

The £60m ($76.98m) scheme is poised to inject approximately £12m a year into the local economy.

The hotel, designed by KPP Architects, will be a seven-storey reinforced concrete frame structure.

It will have piled foundations set into Mercia Mudstone and reinforced concrete transfer beams at the first-floor level to support the proposed room layout.

Construction is set to begin later this year, with the hotel's opening expected in mid-2026.

JPG director Liam Bower said: “We are delighted to secure a further brief from Dakota Hotels, cementing our relationship moving forward as a trusted and valued expert advisor.

“The brand is synonymous with style and impeccable service, and it is great to be able to demonstrate our expertise on delivering luxury lifestyle projects as well as industrial for which we are well known for.”

JPG serves as the retained strategic partner for Dakota Hotels, offering a spectrum of civil, structural, geoenvironmental, and motorway engineering consultancy services for the company's projects.

This new consultancy contract marks the fourth Dakota Hotels brief for JPG.

JPG had contributed to Dakota's developments in Leeds and Manchester city centres.

Currently, it is providing services in Newcastle. Progress continues at this site, where JPG is overseeing civil and structural engineering.

The project involves converting a vacant five-storey office building into a luxury waterfront hotel, set to open in early 2025.

The structural design includes a first-floor steel extension deck, which will provide additional space for the 115-bedroom hotel.
