Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and Eaton, a power management company, have entered into an agreement to construct a new campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The agreement was formalised at a signing ceremony at Jafza in Dubai.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with expected completion in 2026.

The project seeks to integrate Eaton’s commercial, manufacturing, and support operations while also allowing for future expansion.

The initiative will expand Eaton’s research, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities and is set to enhance Dubai's production of electrical and electronic components.

These components are essential for the delivery of power across various sectors such as data centres, construction, and solar energy.

The facility will span more than 500,000ft².

The manufacturing operations will be supported by a new research and development (R&D) centre that will focus on sustainable manufacturing, power management, and the application of machine learning and AI among other technologies.

The project will generate around 700 jobs, including engineering and advanced manufacturing roles.

The campus will incorporate sustainable technologies, showcasing the role of commercial and industrial buildings in energy transition.

The manufacturing centre will integrate digital technologies such as automation, analytics, and robotics to optimise production, aligning with industry 4.0 standards.

Eaton chair and CEO Craig Arnold said: “This new partnership with DP World and Jafza underscores our commitment to growth in the region, and supports Dubai’s D33 transformation to position the city as a leader in high-tech manufacturing and innovation.

“Our efforts are pivotal in promoting green and sustainable manufacturing through smart factory initiatives and increasing our R&D capability. This will drive the continued development of Emirati talent, and help our customers and partners achieve a sustainable energy transition.”
