Nordic group Instalco subsidiaries Uudenmaan LVI-Talo, Twinputki and Milvent have teamed up to carry out installation works at a new school in Finland’s capital city of Helsinki.

Finnish construction company Jatke Toimitilat and the City of Helsinki are the partners and clients for the project.

The entire order value of this contract is worth around Skr40m ($3.65m).

The scope of Instalco’s work consists of installing the heating and plumbing systems, along with the sprinkler and ventilation systems.

Instalco Finland business area manager Tero Viinikka said: “Collaboration between the Instalco subsidiaries in Finland is really progressing and this is a great example of how the Instalco model works at its very best.

“Together, we can offer the client and end customer a complete solution.

“In this particular case, we were in discussions with Jatke Toimitilat early on for the proposal that they submitted to the City of Helsinki.”

Upon completion, this project will feature an area of 13,000m² that can accommodate up to 1,000 primary school students, a preschool for 200 children, and about 160 staff.

The design of this project is to develop a multi-storey building that will be built on a small, sloping parcel of land in the metropolitan landscape.

Construction is slated to begin later this year and is planned for completion in mid-2025.

The project’s objective is to be certified as a Sustainable Instalco Project.

The metaverse is still in its early stages - first movers have the chance to become market leaders in the construction industry

The construction industry has large and complex sites to manage, strict project deadlines, hazardous working conditions, and tight profit margins. It is also under increasing pressure to improve its ESG credentials and digitalize. The three primary use cases for the metaverse in the construction industry are training, building information modeling (BIM) renders, and collaborative creation, though its adoption is still in its infancy.
