Swiss construction company Implenia has secured new contracts worth more than SFr240m ($270.97m) in total.

The contracts span across Switzerland, Germany and Sweden, involving the construction of data centres, residential developments, and infrastructure projects.

In Switzerland, Green, a data centre provider, has tasked Implenia with constructing two high-performance data centres in Dielsdorf near Zurich.

The project leverages Implenia's experience as a general contractor, with civil engineering work already underway.

The first data centre is expected to be operational by mid-2025.

Having previously built a data centre for Green in Dielsdorf, Implenia is now constructing an associated office building on the Green Metro Campus site.

This marks the company's sixth data centre project in the Zurich area.

In Germany, Naxos Grundbesitz has selected Implenia to construct the Midstad Karlsruhe project, which will feature retail, office, co-working spaces, and foodservice outlets.

Implenia's role as general contractor follows the near completion of demolition work at the site and construction pit development by its special foundations unit.

The project aims for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) Platinum certification for the new building and DGNB demolition certification for the demolition phase.

Plans also involve installing a solar power system and rainwater harvesting roofs.

Completion of this project is expected by mid-2026.

Meanwhile, the Swedish Transport Authority has awarded Implenia the contract for the Ersmark tunnel project in northern Sweden.

The tunnel is part of the Norrbotnia Line, a new 270km railway that will enhance connectivity and support regional development.

The project includes a 1.6km tunnel between Fäboberget and Ersmarksberget, a service tunnel, various concrete structures, and water systems.

Work is expected to begin in May this year and take two years.

Last August, Swiss Federal Railways awarded a contract to IBD, a joint venture (JV), for a lot at the Ligerz-Twann rail line extension project in Switzerland.

The IBD JV, led by Implenia, consists of partners Bernasconi and De Luca.
