Henry Brothers contracted for Castle Meadow Campus in Nottingham

The renovated buildings on the site will be used to accommodate the university's long-term industrial partners.

The University of Nottingham in England has contracted Henry Brothers Construction to support the development of its Castle Meadow Campus.

Valued at £7m, the contract will see the company renovate and rebuild two of the seven buildings on the 3.75ha property for future use.

The site is located on Castle Meadow Road near Nottingham Castle. It formerly housed the UK government’s HM Revenue & Customs department.

The project is currently in its final stages, with contractors selected to modify the site’s buildings and landscaping to form a new city centre campus for use by the university.

Henry Brothers Construction's managing director Ian Taylor said: “This is a hugely exciting project for the University of Nottingham and for the city, and we are proud to be playing a part in it.

“Henry Brothers has extensive experience of working with universities across the Midlands to improve their facilities. This is our first contract with the University of Nottingham, and we are really looking forward to getting on-site in our home city to deliver some of the building work at Castle Meadow Campus.”

Specifically, the builder has been chosen to demolish and rebuild buildings D and F on the property. Building D will be used for long-term leases for the university’s industrial partners when it is finished later this year.

Building F will also accommodate industrial partners, according to the proposal. It will feature conference rooms and meeting pods.

AECOM, Gardiner & Theobald, Hopkins, Arup, Bond Bryan, and Ares Design are part of the team that is working on the project’s design and build contract.

The renovation is scheduled to be finished in early 2024.
