Hemsö has been selected for public procurement by the City of Ragnsdorf to develop a new secondary school in the municipality, located within Germany.
The company has signed a 20-year lease with the municipality.
The €47m ($51.13m) project encompasses an 8,000m² secondary school, which will cater to 220 students.
It will also include a sports hall for both the school and local associations, a youth centre, and a sports field.
The combined area of the sports field and schoolyard will span 36,000m².
The school will be constructed over three storeys with an additional building for changing rooms to be built adjacent to the school.
The land allocation also allows for an expansion of 600m², providing the potential to offer school places to an additional 110 students.
Plans also include the construction of 1,200 new homes in the vicinity of the school.
This anticipated increase in the student base can be accommodated through the school's planned future expansion.
In addition, the project aims to achieve DGNB Gold certification.
Hemsö Region Germany head Jens Nagel said: “This is Hemsö's second school project in Germany. The fact that the City of Ragnsdorf chose Hemsö in a public procurement shows that our offer is attractive.
“Hemsö has completed many school projects in Sweden and Finland and has solid competence in developing schools. We are currently in dialogue with municipalities across the country to develop or renovate schools.”
Construction is expected to commence in early 2025, with completion anticipated by mid-2026.
Last month, the company announced that it was developing a new healthcare centre designed for substance abuse care in Tallbacken, Turku, Finland.
