Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured a Rs10.316bn ($122.7m) contract from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation to construct a bridge in Maharashtra, India.

The project, which is to be executed on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis, involves building a two-lane bridge across Agardanda Creek on the Revas-Reddi Coastal Highway in Raigad District.

The bridge's total length spans 4.3km, including approach roads of 45m on the Agardanda side and 145m on the Dighi side, with the main bridge covering 4,120m.

The structure is being positioned on the offshore side of Agardanda Jetty and Dighi Port, which will enhance the region's connectivity.

The project includes two navigation spans designed to facilitate maritime passage, offering horizontal clearance of 100m and vertical clearance of 15m.

The bridge's design features a cable-stayed superstructure for the navigational spans, totalling 420m arranged in a configuration of 67.5m, 142.5m, 142.5m, and 67.5m.

Upon completion, the bridge is expected to significantly reduce travel time and bolster the economic development of the region.

The HCC Group, which includes HCC Infrastructure and its wholly owned subsidiary Steiner in Switzerland, has been executing many of India's main infrastructure projects.

Earlier this year, HCC received completion certificates for several projects, including the Numaligarh Jorhat and NH34 Pkg 3 roads, and a substantial completion certificate for the Punatsangchhu hydroelectric project (HEP).

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Coastal Road project’s second phase was inaugurated, and significant progress was made on the Anji Khad Bridge project, DMRC DC06, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Tehri Pumped Storage, and Vishnugad Pipalkoti HEP.
