The Bahrain Marina Development Company has held a ground-breaking ceremony for the Bahrain Marina project in the country’s capital city of Manama.

Held at the Bahrain National Theatre, the ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Al Khalifa.

The project will be built on an area spanning more than 256,000m² and carries a total investment value of BD200m ($530.68m). The first phase of the project represents an investment of BD92m.

It is aimed at diversifying the country’s economy and boosting the real estate development sector while elevating Bahrain's position as a premier tourist destination.

It will feature 274 units for permanent and temporary residence, as well as 304 deluxe hotel rooms and 1,769 underground parking spaces.

The development will include 192 retail units, including international shops, cafés, restaurants, and a 33-storey commercial complex.

Additionally, it will offer 182 berths for yachts and boats, along with a 3,200m² marina clubhouse providing entertainment activities and marine programmes.

Nass Contracting is the principal contractor responsible for project implementation and Mohamed Salahuddin Engineers & Architects is overseeing the construction of the initial phase.

The agreements between contractors Nass Contracting and Mohamed Salahuddin Engineers & Architects, and Bahrain Marina Development Company were formalised earlier this year.

In June 2023, another development project called Marina Bay was unveiled in Manama by infrastructure developer Infracorp.
