Green Mountain begins data centre expansion in Enebakk

The expansion is set to generate new jobs and benefit the surrounding community.

Norway-based data centre company Green Mountain has commenced construction on the expansion of its data centre facility in Enebakk, outside the country's capital of Oslo.

Green Mountain has received permission to construct the 9,600m² three-storey structure.

Construction work on the 10MW data centre is set to begin immediately once the start-up permit is approved and is predicted to be completed by September next year.

Once completed, the entire Enebakk site will comprise a total capacity of 41.5MW.

This covers both specialised buildings for individual customers and multitenant colocation facilities.

An international company has already booked approximately 5MW of the new data centre’s capacity.

Green Mountain CEO Svein Atle Hagaseth said: “We are currently experiencing great demand for our services, and I am pleased to see that more and more international customers are looking to Norway and the Nordics for their data centre needs.

“They provide services that most Norwegians are familiar with and depend on for both work and leisure.”

The client’s identity for the project has not been revealed, although it is said to be a new client in Green Mountain’s portfolio.

The site's expansion is expected to generate new jobs and have a beneficial impact on the surrounding neighbourhood.

Last month, Green Mountain and German power company KMW began the construction of a new sustainable data centre in Mainz, near Frankfurt, Germany.

This site’s first 18MW building, with a total potential capacity of 54MW, is scheduled to be finished in the first quarter of 2025.
