GRAHAM Building North has celebrated the topping out of a new 36m-high student accommodation development on Bath Street in Glasgow's city centre, Scotland, UK.
The project, undertaken for iQ Student Accommodation, replaces an outdated 1970s office block that was demolished in 2023.
The construction milestone was marked with a ceremony attended by the project team.
This team comprises architect Cooper Cromar, project manager AtkinsRéalis, engineering consultant Woolgar Hunter, and cost consultant Cumming Group.
AtkinsRéalis director Tom McDougall said: “AtkinsRéalis is delighted to be part of this project which will have a significant impact on the provision of student accommodation across the city, providing modern-day living and on-site amenities.
“Working alongside iQ Student Accommodation, GRAHAM and the wider project team, our project managers are excited to have achieved this major milestone and look forward to progressing the development over the next period.”
This month last year, GRAHAM commenced the ground-breaking of this development.
The construction team completed the structural cores within a span of eight weeks by January 2024.
The new facility is set to offer 551 student apartments.
It will also include a range of communal amenities such as a gym, a gaming arcade, and various dining and social spaces.
GRAHAM Building North regional managing director Gary Holmes said: “The project team has designed an innovative scheme that responds to modern-day student requirements while simultaneously breathing new life into an important city centre location.
“The development reaching full height is a key project milestone that we are proud to celebrate, and we look forward to progressing with the next phase of works.”
The development is anticipated to be completed in mid-2025, with plans to welcome students starting in September of that year.
