North America-based Graham Construction has been chosen to deliver the St. Paul’s Hospital Front Entrance Expansion project in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The company was selected following a two-stage procurement process. It participated in the request for proposal stage and subsequently beat PCL Construction Management to secure the project.

Government of Saskatchewan Health Minister Everett Hindley said: “We are pleased to see a team in place to lead the renovations to St. Paul’s Hospital front entrance, which will provide a safer, more efficient space for patients, visitors, and staff while considering the needs of the Indigenous community.

“Thank you to our project donors, Emmanuel Health and the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation for their commitment to improving safety and inclusivity.”

The scope of the project will see an 8,353ft² extension with a more accessible and larger front entrance, as well as 6,609ft² of interior modifications to accommodate the relocation of Patient Registration, Security, Information, and the hospital's gift shop.

Once complete, the project is set to help the development of the Cultural Healing Centre such as those at Regina General and Pasqua Hospitals.

The new First Nations and Métis Healing Centre will provide a venue for cultural celebration and patients seeking culturally safe healing.

The Emmanuel Health Foundation and the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation have agreed to contribute to the project.

Emmanuel Health president and CEO Corey Miller said: “St. Paul’s Hospital is thrilled to proceed with this important project.

“Not only will we be able to improve overall safety and access to our facility, but more importantly, with the addition of the Healing Centre, we are able to advance the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, in keeping with our commitment to provide a safe and culturally responsive space to heal.”

Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of the year and be completed by late 2025.
