Fermanagh and Omagh District Council-appointed GRAHAM has been selected as the contractor to finalise the design of the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum redevelopment in Northern Ireland.

The redevelopment will entail the construction of a new leisure, health, and well-being hub in Enniskillen.

It received a £20m ($26.26m) boost from the UK government's Levelling Up Fund last year and aims to create the first Passivhaus-certified leisure centre on the island.

GRAHAM Building South managing director Jonathan Hall said: “We’re pleased to have been selected through Pagabo’s major works framework to finalise the design for the redevelopment of the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum.

“This project, which will feature Ireland’s only Passivhaus-certified leisure centre, is pushing the boundaries of environmental sustainability. It’s an exciting opportunity to create a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance local health, wellness, and recreation, and set a new standard in sustainable development.”

The planned facilities at the site include a new eight-lane swimming pool, a learner pool, a splash pad for children, and gym amenities.

Additionally, the project will offer versatile spaces for community use and health partners, with dedicated areas for health and wellness activities.

The outdoor proposal features a destination play park, an urban sports park, a 3G sports pitch, and new trails for cycling, walking, and running.

It also plans for an active waterfront area and enhanced pedestrian connections to the town centre of Enniskillen.

The redevelopment proposal was shaped through consultations with elected officials, the public, statutory and community organisations, and local businesses.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is maintaining engagement with stakeholders throughout the project's stages.

The final design will be included in the Full Business Case for the project, which is set for review by the council later this year.

At that time, a decision will be made regarding the investment needed for the project to advance to the construction stage.

In July this year, GRAHAM completed the Reardon Court extra care housing scheme in Enfield, London, which is designed to support independent living for residents aged 55 years and over.
