GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership (GBHP) has secured the contract for the new Children's Hospital at the Royal Victoria Hospital site in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The facility project recently received approval from the country's Health Minister Mike Nesbitt.

Spanning 52,000m², the ten-storey hospital will be equipped with 155 beds, 11 theatres, an emergency department, an imaging suite, and a comprehensive outpatient department.

It is designed to cater to up to 45,000 children each year.

The hospital aims to redefine paediatric healthcare standards in Northern Ireland, featuring 80% of beds in private ensuite rooms, parent facilities, social spaces, and dedicated staff areas.

The investment for this project totals £671m ($845.6m), with construction costs of £389m funded through the Department of Health’s capital budget.

The construction is expected to take five years to complete.

GRAHAM managing director Jonathan Hall said: “This project is a major step forward for healthcare in Northern Ireland, and we are honoured to be delivering such a critical facility for future generations. The new hospital will provide state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, ensuring the best possible care for children and their families.”

GRAHAM is a privately owned company specialising in the delivery of construction and development projects across the UK and Ireland. BAM engages in the creation and construction of buildings and infrastructure across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

GBHP has experience in delivering healthcare projects in Northern Ireland.

In April 2024, the partnership completed the Royal Victoria Hospital’s Belfast Maternity Unit Phase B1.

This modern five-storey unit was designed to adapt to the evolving needs of expectant mothers and their families.
