GMI Construction Group has secured a contract valued at £23m ($29.46m) to build a speculative industrial and distribution development in Staffordshire, UK, for the Evans Property Group.
The initial phase of Fradley Link, situated strategically near the A38 road just north of Lichfield, will yield approximately 280,000ft² of commercial space at Fradley Park.
As the principal contractor, GMI Construction is tasked with constructing two new warehouse units with sizes of 204,500ft² and 78,500ft², respectively, designed to accommodate various types of tenants.
Work on the project has commenced, with the units aiming for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Excellent certification and an energy performance certificate A rating, set to be ready for tenants by the second quarter of 2025.
Features of the units include electric vehicle charging points, provisions for solar panel roofing, advanced drainage systems, and bicycle storage facilities.
This contract underscores GMI Construction's ongoing role in expanding Fradley Park, a leading industrial park that spans more than 300 acres and hosts spaces suited for distribution, warehousing, and manufacturing enterprises.
The company's Midlands division has a track record of completing several projects at Fradley Park for the Evans Property Group.
Past projects include a 437,000ft² facility for online retailer ASOS, a 130,000ft² building now used by Cotswold Furniture, and Tesco's 800,000ft² Regional Distribution Centre.
GMI Construction Midlands managing director Gareth Jones said: “We are exceptionally proud to continue our involvement in the development of Fradley Park with this prestigious contract award from Evans Property Group.
