UK-based construction company Galliford Try has announced that its Building division has secured two new contracts with a combined value of £101m ($128.71m).
The company’s Building Southern business has achieved financial closure with the UK's Home Office through the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) framework to complete the construction of a new £70m, 400-room immigration detention facility at Campsfield, Oxfordshire.
The Campsfield immigration centre for over 200 adult men facing deportation was active for more than 20 years.
It was closed by May 2019 in response to the Stephen Shaw review.
The second, a £31m project, has been awarded by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) for the Programme to Rationalise and Integrate the Estate II project at Royal Air Force (RAF) Wyton in Cambridgeshire.
Commissioned to Galliford Try’s Building East Midlands business, the project involves a mix of refurbishments and the establishment of new secure office space for UK Strategic Command.
Galliford Try chief executive Bill Hocking said: "We are delighted to be working with our partners at the MOJ, Home Office and DIO on these two significant projects.
“These appointments, in key markets for our Sustainable Growth Strategy, are testament to our strong track record in collaborating successfully with both organisations, and we look forward to working with all the stakeholders to create high-quality outcomes for all those involved."
In April this year, Galliford Try‘s Building Southern division initiated construction on the new Endeavour Co-operative Academy in Brentwood, Essex, UK.
