Epicon has entered into a consortium agreement with PNSB Construction, a subsidiary of Permodalan Negeri Selangor, to lead an affordable housing development in Selangor, Malaysia.
This partnership aims to provide high-quality homes at affordable prices to the citizens of Selangor, addressing a critical need in the region.
The agreement positions Epicon as the main turnkey contractor for the Rumah Idaman MBI (RIM) development, which will see the construction of 2,252 units.
The housing units will be built on a parcel of land held under Mukim Rawang, Daerah Gombak, Negeri Selangor Darul Ehsan.
PCSB head Wan Afnizam Wan Moran said: “The development of Rumah Idaman MBI in Mukim Rawang, Gombak District, aligns with the Selangor State Government’s aspiration to provide 200,000 affordable housing units to the people of Selangor under the Kediaman Kita Selangor initiative.”
The award of the construction contract for the Rawang Project will be revealed later.
Both Epicon and PNSB Construction have also agreed to explore further opportunities to work together on future RIM or other affordable housing projects within Selangor.
This ongoing commitment underscores the importance of sustainable housing solutions and the potential for continued growth in the sector.
Epicon chief executive officer Clement Toh said: “A common challenge in affordable housing projects is the high cost of construction, which often impedes the development of such essential initiatives for the B40 and M40 households.
“However, our expertise in this field positions us uniquely to mitigate these challenges. By emphasising value engineering, we have developed a model that not only keeps construction costs in check but also ensures the delivery of high-quality projects.”
