Eiffage consortium to build section of Grand Paris Express’ line 15

The team will utilise low-carbon and fibre-reinforced concrete during construction.

December 19 2023

French civil engineering construction company Eiffage, in collaboration with eight architectural companies, has received a €2.54bn ($2.77bn) design-and-build contract for a section of the Grand Paris Express line 15.

The Grand Paris Express is a rapid transit project being developed by Société du Grand Paris in the Île-de-France region of France.

This contract was secured by Eiffage through its subsidiary Eiffage Génie Civil. The section to be built is between the Bobigny - Pablo Picasso and Champigny Centre stations.

The Eiffage consortium includes Architecturestudio, Ar.thème Associés, fbcc, BIG-Silvio D’ASCIA Architecture consortium, LA/BA, VIGUIER, and Wilmotte & Associés.

The scope of this contract involves the excavation of 17km of tunnel, the development of 15 related rail structures and two entrance structures, and the installation of railway tracks and path infrastructure.

In addition, it includes the installation of high- and low-voltage systems and electromechanical equipment such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, smoke extraction, and fire safety in the stations, tunnels, and related rail buildings.

The consortium will also build six new stations, which comprise Bobigny - Pablo Picasso, Pont de Bondy, Bondy, Rosny Bois-Perrier, Val de Fontenay, and Nogent - Le Perreux.

The companies will oversee the construction of a section of the Champigny Centre station allocated to line 15, along with establishing an operations centre in Rosny-sous-Bois and two property development projects in Bondy and Le Perreux.

The team aims to minimise the operation's carbon effect by using low-carbon concrete and installing fibre-reinforced concrete segments.

Eiffage Construction, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, and Eiffage Rail will bring their respective expertise to the project.

Work phases are set to start after a 15-month design phase and are planned to be completed in 2031.
