Firethorn Trust, a privately-owned real estate developer, has achieved a significant construction milestone in a student accommodation development with the completion of the substructure in Leith Walk, Edinburgh, Scotland.
The development will provide living spaces for 230 students upon its completion in 2026.
Ogilvie Construction, a division of the family-owned Ogilvie Group, has been tasked with constructing the six-storey building.

The project includes additional facilities such as a laundry, gym, cinema, and cycle storage.
Adjacent to the main accommodation block, a single-storey structure will be erected to house these amenities, alongside an electricity substation to ensure power supply for the entire complex.
The project is on track for completion in time for the 2026/27 academic year.
Ogilvie Construction managing director Donald MacDonald said: “Site operations started in October with the demolition of the previous structure and the project has made excellent progress since then. With the completion of the ground slab substructure, the next phase of the build will see the columns rising as we complete each storey of the new building. This is our 15th student accommodation project in recent years, and we look forward to handing over a first-class facility to Firethorn Trust next year.”
In June 2024, Ogilvie Construction began work on a new hotel in Edinburgh's Haymarket area. This project, for which it is the principal contractor, was commissioned by property development firm S Harrison.
