DP World, in collaboration with Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), has initiated the construction of a new logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia.

Located on an Asia-Europe shipping route, the logistics park was established in 2022 under a 30-year concession.

This SR900m ($250m) project is designed to enhance logistics and trade in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding region.

The Jeddah Logistics Park is expected to optimise logistics for importers and exporters, offering an integrated platform that will streamline operations within the region.

Last year, Mawani and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an agreement for the construction of the park.

The 415,000m² greenfield site will feature 185,000m² of warehousing space and a storage yard.

It will have the capacity to accommodate more than 390,000 pallet positions and a rooftop solar plant capable of generating 20MW of renewable energy.

This aligns with the sustainable design principles and goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Being developed in two phases, the logistics park is set to open in the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.

Mawani president Omar Bin Talal Hariri said: “This new logistics area will be connected to DP World’s South Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port, facilitating growth and increasing the number of containers handled at the terminal.

“The project is part of Mawani’s broader efforts to expand the number of logistics centres in Saudi ports, in partnership with major national and international companies, and in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030.”

The partnership between Mawani and DP World also includes the management of the South Container Terminal.

The terminal is undergoing a modernisation project, which is set to be completed in Q4 2024. It will expand its capacity to five million twenty-foot equivalent units.

The combined investment of DP World's projects, including the logistics park and the terminal modernisation, amounts to nearly SR4bn.
