American data centre and dark fibre solutions provider DC BLOX has revealed the start of construction of an advanced data centre campus in Douglasville, Georgia, US.

The company has acquired a 55-acre plot of land for this construction project.

The site is backed by significant tax incentives established by the Elevate Douglas Economic Partnership, with an estimated capital investment of more than $1.2bn.

It will be linked to BLOX’s approximately 500-mile dark fibre route, which is the first high-capacity East-to-West fibre network linking important communications centres in Augusta, Atlanta, and the BLOX Cable Landing Station in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The two-storey data centre facility is set to feature 12 data halls, comprising 750,000ft² gross area on the site, and is designed to handle rising hyperscale requirements.

The campus has committed to 180MW of power, with first customer move-in scheduled for the third quarter (Q3) of 2025.

BLOX has partnered with Evans General Contractors for this project.

The company intends to expand its data centre portfolio near Atlanta, further bolstering the region’s rapid development as a core data centre market.
