CtrlS and NT to build 150MW data centre in Thailand

CtrlS is set to build the campus while NT will serve as one of CtrlS' partners for network and connectivity.

India-based data centre operator CtrlS Datacenters has announced its partnership with Thai state-owned telecommunications company National Telecom Public (NT) to build a 150MW data centre campus in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Chonburi, Thailand, reported ETCIO South-East Asia.

This greenfield data centre facility in Thailand will be the first international market expansion for CtrlS, as well as its first hyperscale data centre campus in the country.

Due to its digitalisation, implementation of 5G, and enhanced connectivity via submarine cables with nations such as the US, Singapore, China, Japan, and Taiwan, Thailand is stated to be an ideal destination for the manufacture of digital infrastructure, said CtrlS.

Furthermore, the development of a data centre in the EEC is expected to attract both foreign and local hyperscale and enterprise customers from the food processing sectors and other critical industries.

For this project, CtrlS is building the campus itself while NT will serve as one of its partners for network and connectivity.

The two entities are forming a collaboration of convergence of data centre colocation services and several cloud-based services that are put together and known as Convergence of Data Center, CLS & Terrestrial.

Furthermore, this data centre site is close to the submarine cable landing stations of the Asia-America Gateway cable system, as well as the upcoming Asia Direct Cable cable system, which is scheduled to launch in next year's first quarter.

Aside from being near the EEC startup incubator, it is a safe distance from flood-prone areas.

The metaverse is still in its early stages - first movers have the chance to become market leaders in the construction industry

The construction industry has large and complex sites to manage, strict project deadlines, hazardous working conditions, and tight profit margins. It is also under increasing pressure to improve its ESG credentials and digitalize. The three primary use cases for the metaverse in the construction industry are training, building information modeling (BIM) renders, and collaborative creation, though its adoption is still in its infancy.
