Harworth Group has announced the commencement of construction on a new mixed-use development, Olive Lane, located within the Waverley project in Rotherham, England, UK.
A ground-breaking event was held in December 2023, which came following planning approval achieved the month before.
It was attended by representatives from Harworth Group, Sky-House, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Waverley Community Council, and various project delivery teams.
Lindum Group is the construction contractor of the project while other contributors include architect CODA, landscape architect PWP Design, civil engineer BE Design, planning consultant Stantec, and project/cost manager Edge.
Olive Lane will feature 21,000ft² of retail and leisure space, including cafés, convenience stores, and restaurants.
The pedestrianised high street, designed by CODA, aims to seamlessly connect the residential neighbourhood with the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP).
It will offer Waverley residents and AMP workers additional amenities to the existing 310 acres comprising green space, a community garden, a school, a family pub, and a cycle track.
Harworth also completed a two-acre land sale to Sky-House, facilitating the development of 50 residential units adjacent to Olive Lane's high street.
Harworth Yorkshire & Central regional director Ed Catchpole said: “We are very excited to be starting work on Olive Lane, and to have completed this land sale to Sky-House, a trusted partner who shares our vision for making Waverley an attractive, vibrant and inclusive community.”
