Building contractor Higgins Group has announced that the Botanical Place project at West Byfleet in the UK achieved a construction milestone. 

The project is part of Retirement Villages Group’s (RVG) Thrive Living collection.  

A topping-out ceremony was held at Tea Tree House, which is the tallest among the five new residential blocks at Botanical Place. 

It was attended by senior representatives from RVG and Higgins, along with local councillors, community leaders, and Woking's Member of Parliament Jonathan Lord. 

This event marked the completion of concrete pouring on Tea Tree House, which is set to open next year. 

RVG CEO Will Bax said: “Our vision for Botanical Place is about creating a vibrant hub where residents can come together, build meaningful connections, and share experiences.   

“This way, we will ensure that Botanical Place is a dynamic destination contributing significantly towards the long-term community aspirations of West Byfleet.” 

Botanical Place is designed to be a whole-of-life net-zero carbon development, reflecting the highest standards in design and amenities. 

The development will feature 197 apartments, retail outlets, and landscaped public spaces, anticipated to rejuvenate the local area and offer a range of amenities for residents. 

It will include a cinema room, gym, wellness centres, and a convenience store among other facilities. 

It aims to foster a community where older individuals can lead independent, active lives while contributing to the local area.  

The development is also a response to the housing needs and regeneration efforts in the town centre.  

Local community members have also played a role in shaping the design and construction of the West Byfleet development. 

Higgins Partnerships managing director Steve Leakey said: “As well as making amazing progress on this sustainable new retirement community, our team has been working closely with the local residents to deliver our commitment on social value and providing volunteering hours to community projects.” 

The Thrive Living development pipeline also includes sites in Chester and Tunbridge Wells. 

The latest project comes after housing association Notting Hill Genesis chose Higgins Partnerships to develop the ‘Saxon Wharf’ mixed-use project in south-east London, last month.
