The development is set to see the construction of upgraded facilities to host large outdoor events at the park.

Scotland's Highland Council has contracted construction company Clark Contracts for the Bught Park improvement project in Inverness, Scotland.

The regeneration project is being funded via the Levelling Up Fund of the UK national government.

The project will see the construction of upgraded facilities for large outdoor events, a renovated grandstand, and an added sports pavilion.

Highland Council Inverness City area leader, councillor, and Levelling Up Fund Programme Board co-chair Ian Brown said: “The contract award for improvements at Bught Park is a welcome one as it will ensure this important sporting and cultural facility can continue to be enjoyed by local people and visitors for years to come.

“Also, in line with the Highland Council’s sustainability goals, the works will introduce a cleaner ground-source heating system offsetting potential environmental impact.”

The Levelling Up Fund is providing more than £20m to three projects located along the River Ness in Inverness.

These projects are expected to enhance the city’s sporting and cultural attractions, maintain major heritage landmarks, attract more tourists, and help the city meet its net-zero carbon goals.

Clark Contracts director Michael Scanlan said: “We are proud to be delivering this project and are looking forward to working in collaboration with the council to provide upgraded and enhanced sporting and cultural facilities for the local community.”

Construction work is scheduled to begin later this month.
