Tutor Perini, in a joint venture (JV) with its subsidiary Black Construction, has secured a contract for a Child Development Center at Andersen Air Force Base (AFB) in Guam, US.
The contract, valued at $74.4m, has been awarded by the US Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Pacific District.
The scope of the contract encompasses the construction of the centre with privately owned vehicle parking.
It will comprise a single-storey, reinforced concrete building with child development spaces, administration areas, staff support, and facility support spaces.
The building will also include outdoor storage and activity spaces, as well as other incidental related work.
Additionally, the facility has fluid-applied roofing, doors, windows, louvres, and both exterior and interior finishes.
The centre will also feature kitchen equipment, signage, plumbing, ventilation, electrical power, lighting, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Construction details include shallow, reinforced concrete foundations, slabs, walls, floors, and roofs.
External works will involve grading, landscaping, walkways, fencing, and the installation of equipment and waste enclosures.
The project also includes the provision of sewer, water, electrical, and telecommunication utilities, and more.
Work is expected to commence in mid-2024, with completion anticipated by mid-2026.
The contract's value will be included in Tutor Perini Corporation’s backlog from the second quarter of this year.
Last year, Black Construction’s unit Black Micro received a firm-fixed-price contract for the Tinian International Airport project on Tinian Island in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Black Micro is also a Guam-based subsidiary of civil, building, and speciality construction company Tutor Perini.
