The City of South Fulton Council in Georgia, US, has unanimously approved the Cedar Grove Park Project.

The $17m initiative is aimed at establishing a premier destination for recreation, education, and community engagement in District 4.

This project is said to be the 'first recreation facility' to be constructed since the city's inception and the 'first-ever recreation centre' in District 4.

Cedar Grove Park is designed to cater to residents of all ages, promoting physical health, personal growth, and social connection.

The park will feature a modern recreation centre, including an indoor pool and over 4,000ft² of multiuse space for various community activities. The project also includes an outdoor playground and an array of amenities to support a diverse range of programmes.

In addition to the indoor facilities, the park will offer open lawn space for gatherings, a pavilion for events, a basketball court, and a multiuse path network for walking, running, and cycling.

A dog park with sections for different-sized dogs, nature trails, and stormwater management features are also part of the plan to ensure environmental sustainability and promote outdoor exploration.

The construction of Cedar Grove Park is expected to commence in early 2026, with regular updates to be provided through official city channels and public meetings.

District 4 council member Jaceey Sebastian said: “Cedar Grove Park will undergo a remarkable transformation here in District 4, and I am proud to see this project moving forward. This new facility will open opportunities for fitness, community engagement, education, and social interaction, improving the overall well-being of our residents. It’s a true investment in our people and is a pivotal moment in our city."

City of South Fulton Council Parks and Recreation director Ternard Turner said: "Cedar Grove Park will be a cornerstone of our city’s recreation system, providing residents with top-tier facilities that encourage active lifestyles and community engagement. From youth programs to senior activities, this park will offer something for everyone, ensuring a healthier, more connected community."
