The Bristol Temple Quarter Limited Liability Partnership (BTQ LLP) has initiated the search for a long-term private sector partner (PSP) to transform the city's Temple Quarter area in the UK.

As per the contract notice, the project aims to deliver at least 10,000 new homes and create more than 22,000 jobs, with an expected £1.6bn ($2.02bn) uplift for the regional economy.

The chosen PSP will initially collaborate with BTQ LLP to develop housing, commercial spaces, and public areas around the Bristol Temple Meads train station.

While the national government is providing £95m in funding, Bristol City Council, Homes England, and Network Rail have agreed to option their land holdings to BTQ LLP, allowing for a coordinated redevelopment strategy.

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is providing operational funding for the initiative.

Beyond the Temple Meads area, BTQ LLP plans to advance proposals for housing and employment opportunities at St Philip’s Marsh with its PSP while also addressing flood risks and the lack of public transport in the area.

The procurement process is set to continue until the end of this year, culminating in the selection of the partnering organisation.

BTQ LLP CEO Karen Mercer said: “We’re looking for a partner who shares our ambitions to deliver world-class placemaking at Bristol Temple Quarter. Working together, we want to bring socially inclusive and sustainable growth to local people and those living and working across the region.

“By bringing together the public sector with the knowledge and expertise of the private sector, we can bring comprehensive regeneration to this part of our city.”
