Bruntwood SciTech has announced a further £2.4m ($3.01m) investment into Birmingham for transforming the city's McLaren innovation hub.
The project is strategically positioned within a five-minute walk from the upcoming High Speed Two (HS2) Curzon Street Station and is set to meet the increasing demand for flexible and serviced office spaces among innovative businesses.
The Mclaren innovation hub refurbishment, a collaborative effort involving Bruntwood SciTech, Axi Studios, and Estilo Interiors, will see the transformation of the site's basement, which is currently unused, into a gym, complete with changing rooms and shower facilities.
This development is part of a broader initiative to incorporate health and well-being into Birmingham's workplaces.
In addition to the fitness amenities, the refurbishment will introduce a contemplation room designed for private meditation or reflection.
The project also aims to enhance the hub's appeal to startups and scaling businesses by adding new serviced offices that can accommodate teams ranging from two to 30 individuals.
This expansion project complements the existing leased space.
The redesign will also extend to the reception and lounge areas, which will include an updated breakout space.
With the refurbishment, Mclaren is set to offer a total of 112,000ft² of workspace across its 20 floors.
A new name for the building is anticipated to be unveiled upon the project's completion early next year.
The design and construction of the project are being managed by Estilo Interiors, with Axi Studios providing the architectural vision.
JLL and Knight Frank have been appointed as the acting agents for the Mclaren hub while CubicWorks is overseeing the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
Bruntwood SciTech Birmingham associate director Mohamed Ali said: “We want Mclaren to be a place where creative and innovative businesses can grow and succeed, and this investment will help us to achieve that by not only improving the calibre of workspaces and amenities available to them, but offering access to both our Birmingham and UK-wide business support services too.”
